Little Disciples Pre-School

        The Little Disciples Pre-School is an education outreach program of First United Methodist Church of Sneads Ferry serving both the community and the church.  Our mission is to provide a safe, developmentally appropriate and quality pre-school experience in a loving, Christian environment that respects the individuality of all children.

An Average Day at Little Disciples Pre-school

      Your child's day will begin with fifteen minutes of free play.  This allows your child to ease into the day and allows him/her to socially network and get the wiggles out.  Next, we will meet together in a circle.  During the circle we will introduce and discuss our learning center activities.  Our circle time will also include some movement activities and literature.  Following circle, we will dismiss to learning centers which focus on fine motor skills, mathematics, creative play, art, music and movement. At Little Disciples, we recognize that children learn in different ways.  We strive to create learning centers that are inviting, exciting and appropriate for each learning level and style.  After our learning centers, we head to a creative and delicious snack, shared reading time and then, weather permitting, outdoor activities on the playground.  After running, jumping and playing, we head in for our last circle of the day which includes a review of our time together, the calendar and the weather.  If time permits, we enjoy a game before we dismiss

     On Thursdays, we introduce our weekly Bible lesson.  This may be a scripture or a beloved story.  Your child will do activities that relate to the story and may even do a bit of acting.  Thursday is special because it includes "Show and Tell."  Children love to show off their favorite things from home.  Show and Tell is not only a fun, shared activity, it also provides shy children an opportunity to speak up in a group setting.  Show and Tell is wonderful for the development of language skills and the appreciation of concepts.
